History

Associated Orthopaedics of Kingsport was founded by Dr. Merritt Shobe, Dr. Robert Strang Sr., and Dr. Joseph Maloy in 1953.

Over our 64-year history, the group has been fortunate to be home to some of the greatest orthopedic surgeons in Tennessee, including Dr. Robert Strang Jr., Dr. Mark Griffith, Dr. Daniel Klinar, Dr. Howard Mize, and Dr. James ‘Pete’ Phillips. The integrity and passion that these individuals instilled in Associated Orthopaedics continues to radiate throughout the practice on a daily basis.
